Passenger Trains > Idle-Stop Diesel TechnologyDate: 03/29/15 15:37 Idle-Stop Diesel Technology Author: mp208 What proven systems or technologies are currently used by regional, short lines, and class 1's to reduce the high fuel cost of idling locomotives in temperatures below 40 degrees?
What systems are available to work off 480 "shore power" or from a "pony" diesel engine? Looking for oil or water heaters and circulators. Date: 03/30/15 10:47 Re: Idle-Stop Diesel Technology Author: MetraUPWest Metra's MP36s use the Hotstart DLV. The DLV works off 480V from both shore power or HEP from a pony engine. The F40s were equipped with a layover system from the factory which was designed by EMD..
Many NS engines are equipped with APUs, I'm not sure which brand they use, but Hotstart makes an APU as well. Posted from Android |
