Passenger Trains > Amtrak P-42's in New EnglandDate: 03/30/15 09:29 Amtrak P-42's in New England Author: mp208 Where does Amtral use P-42's in New England and where are they maintained and more importantly repaired. Are they hauled all the way to Rensselaer or Wilmington? Are there "protect" engines kept anywhere?

In addition to the routes mentioned, overnight corridor trains 66/67 often run with diesel power east of New Haven so the catenary can be de-powered. I suspect that's also the preferred way to get units from New Haven to and from 448/449 to avoid switching at Springfield.

All else is done further west (Chicago or the Grove) and they're sent out via LSL as the previous post is linked to. |
