More New ACS-64's in Oakland for #6
Author: SN711

I got word that a couple more new Amtrak ACS-64's were picked up and brought to Oakland today. So there is a strong possibility that they will go out on #6 Friday from Emeryville.

If you go looking for the train remember that #6 departs Emeryville about 40 minutes later on a temporary schedule ( see post about 5 down). If on time, #6 departs Emeryville at 0950 hours.

Update: it is just one unit, 641.

Makes me wonder. How many of these ACS-64s will be produced?

70 units numbered 600 to 670. Supposedly they're skipping the "devil".

Perhaps- but the they had to finally give up on Highway 666 in New Mexico because the number attracted more trouble than it was worth...
Doesn't surprise me that Amtrak decided to sidestep any fuss- they've been taken to task for far less!

BNSF renumbered it's 666 to 599 after complaints from crews who didn't want the unit in the lead or even in their consist.

As far as Amtrak is concerned, most Republicans are against Amtrak and since the GOP is mostly ruled by the Reglious Right, an Amtrak unit numbered 666 wouldn't go over too good.

So, following that logic, most Democrats favor Amtrak and are devil worshippers?  That doesn't seem to hold (either)

Which train is bringing the ACS-64 and when is it arriving in Chicago?

Sweet!   Last time I saw one go through Hinsdale outside Chicago but I muddled the photo-taking.

Here's a dumb little trivia question.  Suppose you were riding in that DIT ACS-64.  Could you power up any locomotive systems like the low voltage circuits or heat from the HEP that is passing through it?
