The Renovated St. Paul Union Depot is Gorgeous
Author: MartyBernard

If you have not seen it, you ought to add it to you bucket list.

I first saw it in 1964 when working for the CB&Q and have been back a couple of times over the years.  Last Thursday my daughter and I visited it just to see how it looked in the 1920s.
 And I just did a PhotoBlog:  http://railfan44.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Here's one of the pictures.

Not true.  Amtrak's been there for several months now.

One quarter of a BILLION $$'s of OUR money , (not the government, which has no money) spent on this with NO disclosure of annual operating expenses.  It is fully heated  & air conditioned (average outside ambient temps +100 to -30).   Being  math challenged,  only estimate is millions of cubic square feet of air.  By the way, Amtrak closed a very good depot which they own FREE & CLEAR, with deferred maintenance at their choice, and are paying $12000 per month long term lease. The Midway property remains stripped and vacant after 1 year.    Amtrak  told me a year ago they had a tenant  but now is a blight to the neighborhood of office/warehouses.  I know the Amtrak forever folks will say I'm just being negative, but this seems to be the pattern of how they operate nationwide.

Don't some bus companies share SPUD with Amtrak ?

Megabus, Greyhound, Jefferson lines are the intercity carriers.
Also MetroTransit and buses to the casinos.

The trains did not stop at Midway on a recent trip I took.

That is a beautiful restoration job. Is the station being used for other purposes than transportation as those two trains and busses must be carrying a lot of St. Paul passengers to justify that much space.
