80% of Phase 1, of 4 phases. Not at all the same as 80% of the whole line.

Is "The final 10% of a project consumes 150% of resources" rule-of-thumb still operative?

Hmmm, project first began in the 1920s, now 80 percent complete.  Projecting forward, only another 20 years til I can ride?

For a lot of us maybe our ashes from cremation can be saved and incorporated into some concrete on the last construction day! Might be a good fundraiser but might weaken the concrete.

The TV stations were invited in for the photo tour.

It looks like an enormously impressive project. Even has sound buffers under the tie plates. The plates are bolted into the concrete pavement underneath.  Some of the cave vaults are enormous.

The map shown on TV 5 last night also showed a spur linking what looked like the current section and the line of the  E train in the low 60s. That might explain one way to make use of the short segment for the next 20 years or so
