Passenger Trains > New Amtrak websiteDate: 06/29/15 08:21 New Amtrak website Author: bmarti7 Call me stupid but I can't find track-a-train.

Date: 06/29/15 08:59 Re: New Amtrak website Author: ctillnc Websites are understood to be revenue-generating. Flowers are understood to be an expense. Might not be rational, but that's how it is.
Date: 06/29/15 09:25 Re: New Amtrak website Author: binder001 Thanks guys, I was missing it too, and it's a handy tool whether railfanning or traveling.
Date: 06/29/15 10:06 Re: New Amtrak website Author: mp109 About 2/3 down on the left side it says"check train status with track a train". Click on that and you're in business!
Posted from Android Date: 06/29/15 11:33 Re: New Amtrak website Author: WP17 I can see why several posters had issues. Having two links that are both labelled Check Train Status but invoke different features is confusing and is not good user interface design. (minor nit that can be easily fixed)
WP17 Date: 06/29/15 13:10 Re: New Amtrak website Author: bridge22-0196 I had a slight problem when trying to book DAVis-BURbank on the 5:55 bus from DAVis, connecting with train 702 at SAC.
The choices of times are now just "anytime", "morning", "afternoon", "evening" and "midnight" . If I choose "morning", train 702 is not among the options shown. I have to choose "anytime" to get what I want. The 5:55 bus time from Davis appears to be too early to be considered "morning" . (If I choose "midnight", I'm told there's a problem with my itinerary, and am shown the following day's connections, including the 5:55 bus/train 702 combination.) The 5:55 bus time from > Davis appears to be too early to be considered "morning" ... ================================================= I don't consider this a "slight" problem. It affects the NEC (Nothing Else Counts), too. A request for WAS-PHL in the "Morning" omits five trains, departing from 315am to 530am...four Regional and one Acela. And Detroit-Chicago...omits Train 351. And St. Louis-Chicago...omits Train 300. And the Capitol Corridor west from Sacramento...omits Trains 521 and 523. And the San Joaquins, out of Bakersfield...omits Train 711 And the Downeasters out of Portland ME...omits Train 680. And Eugene-Portland...omits Train 500, shows only two buses and the Coast Starlight. Lynchburg-Washington in the "Morning" does not display the Crescent. Carbondale, DuQuoin, Centralia, Effingham and Mattoon to Chicago do not display the City of New Orleans. Norfolk-Washington omits Train 174...only shows two Bus-Train connections through Newport News. I have sent an E-mail to Marketing about it. THANKS! We'll see what is done. How does it feel being a Customer Beta Tester? Edited 9 time(s). Last edit at 06/29/15 15:01 by GenePoon. Date: 06/29/15 14:54 Re: New Amtrak website Author: bridge22-0196 I also sent an email to "contact us/website feedback" about it.
I'm glad I already know what I'm looking for when making reservations! Date: 06/29/15 15:25 Re: New Amtrak website Author: bmarti7 Thanks all - pretty picture - perhaps dark lettering would contrast better but I'm sure the folks at headquarters no better. You're absolutely right about the time range. Delta and United's software works just fine showing all the departures and even expands beyond the times you set.

Thank you for contacting us regarding travel from Davis to Burbank. Leaving it at "anytime" will show you all of the available times. AM after the numbers will let the passenger know that it is in the morning so there will be no confusion. Were any frequent travelers invited to try out the system? Anyone here?
Sometimes the designers and inside testers are a little too close to see the actual ways in which customers use the system |
