#8 Arrived Chicago 8:25 p.m., 4 hrs 30 mins late.

At least one detraining passenger at Glenview, IL was a "never-again" rider (her words) because of the delay, and some of the people meeting arrivals there weren't impressed by Amtrak's timekeeping, either.  This verbalized unhappiness is actually quite unusual, in my experiences meeting the train there.

Seattle late departure caused by late arrival of #7(23).  While we were all busy watching the fire situation at Essex, MT this unusual westbound delay passed un-noticed.  Apparently the train could not make maximum speed, as it continually lost time all the way from St. Paul to Seattle, and left the former point a couple of hours late after arriving nearly on-time.  A good intelligence estimate would be that a speed-restricted freight engine was added there.  Can anyone confirm/deny?
