Passenger Trains > The little engine that couldDate: 08/31/15 12:04 The little engine that could Author: photobob As posted below #14 hit some debris putting the lead unit out of commission. Here she is at Dunsmuir this morning over 5 hours late with only one unit. I have never seen #14 with only one unit so I had to go up to Saw Mill Curve near the top of the climb out of the Sacramento River Canyon to see it crawl by. By golly it rolled by me at 22 MPH nearly track speed.

absolutely love the thread title -- very creative! They got lucky that the 136 was in great condition. SUCH a gorgeous area -- the Dunsmuir area, and environs...... (Wonder what the debris was that they hit? Very glad no one got hurt then!) Date: 08/31/15 13:18 Re: The little engine that could Author: TCnR Were you running down hill at the time?
I was curious how well they made the hill, I guess it's all down hill after Kirk. Saves them a few bucks by not renting a 200 ton locomotive to push around. ------------------------------------------------------- ...By golly it rolled by me at 22 > MPH nearly track speed. > > Robert Morris Photography Date: 08/31/15 16:15 Re: The little engine that could Author: zfan Great pics!! I agree it does look like the Texas Eagle.

Domestic terrorism unless there is a local jihad group where the incident occurred.

Date: 09/01/15 12:54 Re: The little engine that could Author: pecosvalleychief I rode #11 with one unit over the Cascades in 1998. A rail broke in the Portland yard derailing our trailing unit and locking the couplers so we lost BOTH units. Stole a new unit off a Cascade then added a freight unit which went belly up in Eugene. Over the mountains we go with one unit only to run out of fuel on the main south of Chico. DOH!
