Passenger Trains > Weekend service on Surfliner/Metrolink For San Diego pointsDate: 10/05/15 10:04 Weekend service on Surfliner/Metrolink For San Diego points Author: mundo This post on the Metrolink site, sums up the weekend service during October and why its necessary..
Due to scheduled track work on Oct. 17 and 18, Metrolink Orange County Line and Inland Empire-Orange County Line trains will only operate to and from San Juan Capistrano. There will be no bus service or alternate transportation provided. The first two weekends of October (Oct. 3-4 and Oct. 10-11), there will be no Amtrak or Coaster service south of Oceanside. On Oct. 17 and 18, there will be no Amtrak service south of Irvine, but Amtrak will provide bus service for Amtrak passengers only between Irvine and San Diego. During the service disruption, the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) will perform work on the Los Peñasquitos Lagoon Bridges, the Bridge 243 Scour Repair project and the Elvira to Morena Double Track project. â 16 days ago Date: 10/05/15 12:57 Re: Weekend service on Surfliner/Metrolink For San Diego points Author: trainjunkie It figures. I've been waiting all year to take my kids on the Surfliner from LAUPT to San Diego. We scheduled our trip for 10/18 along with a day at Sea World. So much for that, we'll drive.

It has not however showed up on travel alerts. Date: 10/05/15 17:30 Re: Weekend service on Surfliner/Metrolink For San Diego points Author: Proamer See "service notice" on top of page: http://www.amtrak.com/pacific-surfliner-train

Any itea how its been posted? Any way, I have now posted on TO twice now, plus what Amtrak posted and is showing in availabity. No other TO should be caught off guard. Thanks. Availability on Amtrak.com was adjusted about a month ago to show bus bridge Oceanside-San Diego the first two weekends of October and Irvine-San Diego the third one (due to NCTD MOW work north of OSD). It also shows a service alert when you attempt to book any ticket on the Surfliner. But I'm still there are some who are surprised when they show up and see a bus, unfortunately! Three more weekend work windows scheduled in January.
