The Many Faces of the "T"
Author: bob01566

Spent the day in and around Ayer, MA yesterday and in addition to the variety of freight traffic, the "T" commuter trains offered quite a variety themselves.
All three shots were taken at The Willows.

Not beingfrom the New England area when I saw the first picture I though what the ...is a full dome car doing  on a commuter train.  Photos 2 & 3 corrected my original misunderstanding.  Good shots, with great light.

I'm guessing that the signal masts we see in photo #3 are for the diverging freight line to Portland?

You missed many of the many faces of the T.  It has light rail, heavy rail, and PCCs besides commuter rail. I hope that means you will treat us to more pictures.

Can someone please tell us the names (designations) for those three types of locomotives? I don't know those types.

Thanks!

Took the BM and later the T from Winchester to Boston many times. I was raised in Winchester from 1948-1968. Went to North Station/Boston Garden (old) for many Bruins games. In the summer transfered at North Station to the T Green Line for Copley Square and walk to Fenway for Red sox.

A small handful, I believe 20, and most are in Hollywood, AKA the southside.
