Passenger Trains > Ed's Hoosier StateDate: 11/26/15 13:17 Ed's Hoosier State Author: mp51w Hoosier State probably had it's best day Wednesday since IP assumed operation.
Record loads and early arrivals at both end points! Just trying to achieve some balance here. Kudos to Ed and his employee's for a job well done! Date: 11/26/15 15:00 Re: Ed's Hoosier State Author: Setandcentered And Amtrak's t&e crew be damned!
Posted from Android Date: 11/26/15 15:36 Re: Ed's Hoosier State Author: agentatascadero Not to rain on your parade here, but I do feel it is premature, and very much so, to heap praise on IP for having one good day, especially after that long string fo failures to make the run so far. I love Ed's concept of how to run a proper train and deliver on board service, the execution of that excellent concept has been......well, use your own words here....I'll just lament the long string of failures and worry about the future of this train. Ed, by the way......just joking here...must have taken the Amtrak course in "state of good repair", instead of following his beloved IC's example of excellence, which lasted right up until the fateful Amtrak Day in '71. And, right on Jim! Great to hear of Hoosier State's excellent performance yesterday bringing all those folks home for Thanksgiving! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/26/15 16:34 by IC_2024. Date: 11/26/15 17:07 Re: Ed's Hoosier State Author: NYC4096 Creating a business in the current, precarious times is quite a task. IPH has done a formidable job at a start-up and continued operations of Chicago-Indy under trying conditions... I also agree that the congrats are in order to IPH on their first major holiday operation and for a good performance as well. The weather should be reasonable throughout the weekend and for the next ten days. Hopefully, there will be similar positive results on the subsequent trains and throughout the season.
Now, if I could only interest my better half to take a ride with me in the dome, down to Indy and back! Date: 11/26/15 18:00 Re: Ed's Hoosier State Author: reindeerflame Soon he'll be able to resume his regular job, namely moving empty cars over the road.

Just tell her you're going to take her for a day of shopping in Indy. Surely they have some stores in Indy that she wouldn't find in Chicago. Here, practice. "Honey, let's go to Indianapolis so you can do some shopping." Good luck. Absolute sarcasm. It's truly insulting that no credit is given to the people getting that train over the road. Let the flaming begin! Date: 11/27/15 10:04 Re: Ed's Hoosier State Author: IHC It's time for Ed to now also take over the heartland Flyer.

They stood to loose ranks due to the cut back service, but now have a steady gig for the foreseeable future out of Indy. They really don't care what color the Train is, they get it over the road! Date: 11/27/15 11:30 Re: Ed's Hoosier State Author: The_Chief_Way I rode 851 last month and had an excellent conductor and asst conductor. In fact, the a/c who made all
the PA announcements, was probably the best and most professional I've ever heard on a train. He happened to mention that he had worked for ATA airline for 20 years before it went belly up so that was his background. Date: 11/27/15 13:14 Re: Ed's Hoosier State Author: joemvcnj Ed must know he needs a stronger locomotive support system right now. PTJ 2015-4 article says he is interested in short hauls, like out of Tulsa. Personally, once he gets better performance with the HS, I wish he'd take over the Cardinal, even though it means truncating at DC. Amtrak could then apply its Cardinal equipment to extending the Pennsylvanian to Chicago on the rear of the Capitol.

Date: 11/28/15 06:55 Re: Ed's Hoosier State Author: stuporchief Ok I'll take a guess. 130 in coach and 40 in First Class. 170 total pax

With the heritage equipment, how do they handle, for example, a passenger who's in a motorized wheelchair? Are some of the cars ADA compliant and others aren't? The same way they do at all Amtrak stations that do not have high level platforms...the manually cranked wheelchair lift device, see further down the platform in the picture about 7 posts above in this thread. To be Amtrak and ADA compliant, they must have a wheelchair 'tie down' seat or seats in each coach. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/28/15 12:54 by BRAtkinson. |
