what's the story on that depot....original owner? the clock tower seems huge...any idea why and how tall, finally whats the story with the scaffolding? thanks for posting ed

original owner: New York, New Haven & Hartford

IIRC a president or a vice president of the NH was visiting Italy and was inspired by  the Renaissance towers he saw in Italian towns.
Only this New Haven station got the treatment.  The tower is a landmark for miles as Waterbury is in a valley.

The last I heard, the local newspaper is the owner, occupant and proud custodian of this landmark

Agree!  Not a bad looking engine, and the headlight is in the right place too!

I was actually on that train that day!. Our conductor, Mr. Paul reffered to the small 2 car consist as a "micro-bomb" (Bombardier). The usual 3 car consist is known as a "mini-bomb"
Too bad I didn't know you were there.
