IIRC a president or a vice president of the NH was visiting Italy and was inspired by the Renaissance towers he saw in Italian towns. Only this New Haven station got the treatment. The tower is a landmark for miles as Waterbury is in a valley. I was actually on that train that day!. Our conductor, Mr. Paul reffered to the small 2 car consist as a "micro-bomb" (Bombardier). The usual 3 car consist is known as a "mini-bomb" Too bad I didn't know you were there. Steve |
