Passenger Trains > MARC Hippo on Holday Extra

Another forum showns #4911 pulling six MARC coaches by Holmes this morning on Holiday Extra #1056.  #1058 leaves WAS at 2:30 pm - in case anyone is out there go photograph it.  This will probably be the last time that MARC HHP-8s operate WAS-NY as the agency is in the process of phasing out its electrics while anticipating delivery of the Charger diesels ordered from Siemens.  MARC may opt to use Amtrak AEM-7ACs next year if the cost of keeping the hippos maintained is more than leasing a few toasters while awaiting the diesels.

My guess is that Amtrak will influence MARC to rid themselves of the Bananas before the Toasters, as they did the same.
