San Joaquin Train #715 in Wasco, CA.

Today's northbound San Joaquin #715 arrives in Wasco, CA with locomotives 180, 85, and nine cars.  Normally, the train is only 5 cars but with the holiday traffic it looks more like a long distance train.  Just needed a baggage car to complete the look.

With that many cars, double spots would have been necessary at every station, unless they opened doors on only 5-6 cars. Anybody know which was done?

If I had a dollar for every time I've ridden the San Joaquins I'd have...well...probably about $40.

I can't remember who it was but on the Tonight show with Johnny Carson a comedian once said he was going to take his wife on vacation.  He was going to take her to Wasco and Shafter.

San Joaquin delays yesterday were due to waiting at initial terminals for connecting busses delayed by the holiday traffic, and enroute station dwell times for excessive checked baggage loading/unloading.

Nice.

It isn't often to see an Amtrak Train with this many cars in push-pull operator.

Surfliner over Thanksgiving had some 9  and 8 car trains.  Also had 9 cars during the summer Del Mar race track season.
