Dashing through the ... snow???
Author: BRAtkinson

In early February, western Massachusetts usually has had 2-3 feet of snow by now.  Not so this year.  As of Wednesday, we've had about 3 inches, not feet, of the white stuff.  So...here's what should have been a nice blizzard shot of Train 55, the Vermonter, about 10 minutes out of Springfield MA, headed for New Haven and then Washington this past Wednesday.  On Friday morning, we actually got some real snow!  All 4" or so in the Springfield area.

Why 2 P42's for 5 cars?

Your snow wish might be fulfilled soon than you think.

The P42s take the combined train from Rensselaer to Chicago.  The P32AC-DM bringing the longer section from Penn Station comes off at Rensselaer.

You're thinking of the "Lake Shore".  The picture shows the "Vermonter"

Chuchu:  you have the wrong train.  The train here is on the Springfield Line.  You're referring to trains on the Hudson Line.

Thanks.  I'm having a lot of brain farts recently.  Looks like senility is creeping in.

So far, it beats the alternative.
