What could Bombardier be doing to 63 cars that cost $584,126.98 per car?  How much is that per seat?  I'm surprised Gov. Hogan let this slide by.

Where will the work be done?

NJT used to spend $800K for their mid-life overhauls. Such is life when you do not properly maintain your equipment continually.
In the case of the Comet-3's, they decided to retire them at age of 20 and get an opton order for more MLV cars.

Just for reference, overhauls of the California Cars by Alstom, which underbid Amtrak Beech Grove, were around $200,000 each.

....Bombardier awards a contract to Bombardier.

Sounds like a headline from The Onion

Whoa - these are MARC's new multilevel cars that are similiar to NJT's. So back to what someone else posted - what are they doing for $36.8M. If I am not mistaken these cars are the newest of the new! NJT may even have an open option open for the delivery of more multilevel cars - for which MARC may be interested in.

No they aren't, no inner high level door for one thing. I also doubt they would clear NYPS.
These are MARC bi-levels that have been around for some years, and another 13 that once belonged to VRE.
