Passenger Trains > Extremely late westbound Zephyr update

I was at a meeting today at the Wells Rural Electric office in Wells, Nevada...and about 2:00 p.m. I saw the westbound Zephyr come rolling through, about twelve hours late, with UP power on the point.  I see the two threads from yesterday explaining what happened to it, appears it if anything lost more time since leaving Nebraska.

Any idea if they are going to try to get to Emeryville, or turn the train someplace sooner?

Number 5 just left Truckee at about 2125, about 11 hrs 45 min late, only about 10 minutes behind a WB stack train.
 

Better than train #5 coming into Emeryville at 8:30 am - 18 hours late. That's been done a few times and I was lucky enough to be onboard that night. Got stuck up in the Sierra Nevadas in the snow!

Expected into Emeryville around 230am.   If it does that and gets a good turn in Oakland, tomorrow's Train 6 would not be far off its scheduled departure.

Well, Train 6 left Emeryville this morning 3 hours 1 minute late, as it turns out.

Now that's not a bad turnaround!

5(7)  Arrived Emeryville 322am.

6(10) Departed 910am.

About the fastest a train can be turned is five hours.

6 (10) departed Emeryville at 1211 pm.

Did they have to wait for the same train crew to get their rest?

That's pretty much the routine when 5 gets in very late!

If the T&E crew is based in Emeryville, then no, they did not get their legal rest.
Presumably an extra board crew was called to take No.6 east to Reno.
The OBS crew which is Chicago based, does not operate under the Federal 
Hours of Service Rules and presumably made the turn at Emeryville.
