Had something similar happen years ago while working at the Ventura County Railway. A driver went through a crossing gate-a wood one no less, blowing out his windshield. He came back a little while later to the office demanding payment for said glass. I told him we'd be more than happy to accomodate his request just as soon as he filed a police report. Well, said driver had us call the local PD to come and make out a report. When they asked him if he left, he said yes, and was promptly cited for leaving the scene of an accident, misdemeanor hit and run. Now he was beyond hot, was going to sue the railroad. We all told him we would see him in court and to have a nice day. Court day arrived, he didn't. Never heard anything more, other than receiving a check for the gate and time spent repairing it. Moral of this story, stay put and wait for the police. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/10/16 20:40 by SP4360. Date: 02/10/16 22:33 Re: Driver hit-runs light rail in San Jose, returns to scene... Author: wa4umr Most of the hit and runs are either: 1.) a stolen vehicle, 2.) suspended license, or 3.) no insurance. Then you have a few that just panic.
Then you have the idiots that return to the scene of the crime and claim that they have been wronged. John Date: 02/11/16 10:14 Re: Driver hit-runs light rail in San Jose, returns to scene... Author: irhoghead Must be something in the water in California!
