1- I'd take the Crescent; the reviews about the food on the CONO are not good.
2- The Gold Coast Museum isn't very large.  If one happened to be going to the zoo [which is adjacent], I'd say stop in.  But to drive from Hollywood just to see the museum:  I'd say don't bother.  Go here to visit without going there:

I would maybe take Tri Rail to Miami get Cab to the Gold Coast or take Limo Service from Hard Rock.

Food on the Crescent was much better than the food on the CONO when I took both in March.

You should know that Tri-Rail ends up at the Miami International Airport, not downtown.  To get to downtown, you'll need to transfer at Hialeah to Metrorrail heading for Dadeland South.  Metrorail will take you as far south as the end of the line at SW. 90th St.  There, you'll need to get a # 252 bus down to the Zoo on SW 152 St.  The run about once an hour throughout the day.

Are you tired yet?  I was-- just telling you and showing how shitty public transit in Miami is.

BTW, a cab ride from the airport to/from  the museum will be at least $50.00 + tip--each way.   I hope you've got lots of money to spend!

No worries there...RailCity is an Atlantic City High Roller.

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Arlington in 2013 - not a bad location and close to the Metro.

When I was in Miami last month, I used Uber quite a bit - cheaper than a cab and it worked out well.

Because you call for Uber with your smart phone, it is a lot simpler than dealing with cab companies.

Charges go on your credit card and there is no tipping.

I want something near the train park in Arlington, VA. That Nice & Clean, I don't care much about the Price of the Room. Or should i go D.C. for a Hotel. I want pool & Restaurant to eat before i go to the Park.

Even if the Gold Coast Museum is not that big, it has a pretty interesting collection, with a good group of passenger cars.  I was there last June and the highlight of my visit was their ride.  For a small extra fare (I think it was $7) you can purchase a cab ride. Really enjoyable with a friendly and knowledgable volunteer crew.  Where else will you have the chance for a cab ride in an Alco?

The Gold Coast museum is a nice way to spend two or three hours, even though it is located in a remote part of Dade County.

Don't forget the Henry Flagler Museum, which is his former home he custom built in Palm Beach. It's really well done, and has his private wooden railcar preserved at the rear. Just as fascinating is The Breakers at Palm Beach, the fabled resort built by Henry Flagler as he was literally creating the modern east coast of Florida. The Breakers is old world elegance right on the ocean. It's a bit expensive - the last time I was there a modest lunch for two ran $65 before tip - but it's an unforgettable experience.
