Passenger Trains > My Favorite Two Trains

Here we find the Texas Eagle, and the TRE....... The eagle leaving,... TRE backing into Union Station in Dallas. Taken from my hotel room on the 25th floor yesterday overlooking downtown.
​Wish I could have been riding them, but not this trip....... soon though  ^..^

I'm curious, Cottom Belt_1962.  What makes the Texas Eagle one of your two favorite trains?

It is the train that runs through my region of the country....... The Mrs. and me ride it every chance we get. That doesn't really answer your question, but having rode it the most, I suppose that is why...... My wife and me are Amtrak nuts...... So ANY of them are basically our favorites....... Folks on here and elsewhere hack on em, but we love em. They have there problems...... And we have had to be bussed by them...... But we both think that they are far better than ANY service provided by the airlines!!!!!! I'm glad as a country we still have a passenger train.

I understand.  Living in Pittsburgh, I've been on the Pennsylvanian more than any other train and have come to appreciate it more and more over the years.

So - the station building currently in use by Amtrak is the original Union Station?

When I came through last year, somehow it looked different from photos I'd seen, and I only had a few minutes inside the station and didn't really get a good look around.

It was on my trip from the SF Bay Area to Chicago on the San Joaquin, Sunset, and Eagle.

I very much enjoyed the Eagle. Service seemed very good and I met some nice folks in the lounge and diner.
