High Iron Travel will have seven private cars on the rear of the southbound Texas Eagle on Sunday, May 29.  The cars will run Chicago to Ft. Worth where High Iron's Front Range Explorers trip to Amarillo, Denver, Gillette, Minot and Minneapolis trip will begin.  The cars are full sleepers Belleville, Colorado Pine, Baton Rouge and Cimarron River; full diner 442; full dome Prairie View; and sleeper/lounge/obs Caritas.

And they will cover some previously covered mileage through southern Illinois and southeast Missouri on account of the planned detour down the Chester Subd.

Thanks for the heads up!

Did No. 21 run the detour as planned last night?

I wonder if Amtrak will add another locomotive?

At least two, maybe three if they run both locomotives for the High Iron tour with the Eagle.

Yes, it did, according to Amtrak's Track  A Train map.

Last night's 21 was 1:45 down at Poplar Bluff. However Amtrak's web site shows and estimated on time arrival tonight in Poplar Bluff. How is that posible if the detour is again followed? Of course the computer and Julie don't know there is a detour in affect. But Track a Train does!

Yes, I rode it.  Nice views of barges on the river and crossing the Mississippi on the Thebes Bridge.  No mention of the detour was made by the crew since no station stops were affected.  BSB

I meant that as a joke.

Cars were only going to Ft Worth, then become part of a special train as reported in prior posts.

Pretty easy considering the normal route is 165 miles at 40-55 MPH most of the way, and the other way is about 40 miles longer, but 70 MPH track.
