The US might not be civilized enough to have dependable and efficient rail transit?

UPDATE: Breaking News just interrupted local programming at 1:10pm EDT and showed Police activity all over the RofW ... so this is still ongoing ... one suspect in custody .. apparently the officer came upon a drug transaction going down in an apt complex and was ambushed with the druggies running all over the place including the railroad ... the young officer was wearing his vest and he's now listed in critical but stable condition ... hopefully he'll have a full recovery with minimal repurcussions from the injuries  ... he's 25 years old and only has a year on the force ...

We learned that whenever we had to move our equipment through the Philly area on CSX to have at least 1 crewman on each side of the car prominently showing that he was holding a long gun at the ready, and say a prayer that the move didn't have to stop for anything. There's a couple of north Philly neighborhoods ( Baltimore also) that are total jungles. Sad but true.

I was on 177 last night and service was suspended also south of Wilmington because of a train derailment. Anyone know what happen. Passengers from both 187&177 had to stay at the Wilmington Station until we were able to squeeze onto train 67 late this morning. Some passengers had to stand up.

Neighbors cheered the police for getting the bad guys off the corner. Don't hear that very often.

How can you get shot in the face and be 'ok'?  Alive, perhaps, but ok?  One would think that a bullet to the facial area would have a high probabilty of disfiguring, or causing complications to your eyes, nose, teeth, jaw, etc, depending on where it hit.
