Amtrak Capitol Pushing into San Jose?

Out in Alviso today and I just saw Amtrak Capitol #737 westbound in push mode. I can't recall ever seeing that before as usually the locomotive is on the point heading into San Jose.

Is this something new?

It is indeed an anomaly, but it happens now and then.
Sometimes it's a problem with swapping ends, sometimes it's because of a service disruption of some sort.

Thanks, fortunately when 741 came through with 145 on the point, it was facing the 'right' way.
