Wine Train developments at Krug

We chased the "Quatro Vino" train today, and found that the siding at the Charles Krug Winery is slowly being returned to service. This will eliminate the need to shove back to St. Helena to run around, then shove back again to Krug. According to NVWT personnel, the project is moving along slowly and is not a high priority. The first two photos show how the siding is being dug out of the dirt, with a few new ties being installed. (The rail is ancient and very light.) The last photo shows how the north siding switch has been cleared of weeds and tree branches, and had some new ties installed. By the way, today's "Quatro Vino" made its runaround move and left St. Helena well before the lunch train arrived.

Thanks for the info.  Is that 44-tonner (or similar) the normal power for the Quattro Vino trains?

The unit is an ex-US Navy 80-tonner from Mare Island. NVWT has had it for quite awhile, but only recently painted it for this use. With a single-car train, they only have one engine running. They ran the RS-11 on the "Quatro Vino" train for awhile, until the GE was ready.
