But why are there two grabirons on the left side of the lower dutch door? -John Date: 09/28/16 18:17 Re: When Your Parents Work For The Circus Author: Topfuel jcaestecker Wrote:

SP Budd Sunset Ltd cars and NYC Budd 1948-49 era cars are other examples. Date: 09/28/16 18:37 Re: When Your Parents Work For The Circus Author: P jcaestecker Wrote:

Of course, I don't know the reason, but as a somewhat part time trainman, I think the "two handle hold" (if you're riding the stirrup while switching and the vestibule is shut) is MUCH more comfortable that a single grab.

Anybody care to wager what train that is? The photo is from the Daily Dose of Lucy group on Facebook. It showed up about a week ago. I've actually seen several shots of Lucy on trains since joining the group this year. The other day they had one of Lucy and Mickey Rooney getting off what looked like a business car. I couldn't really tell what car it was, but it had one of those forward-facing mirrors typically found on business cars. The RBB train carries a number of people whose job it is to look after the children of the performers (and maybe the roustabouts, too??). Hang out around where the train is parked during the day and you'll see what looks like a Kindergarten troupe following the teachers around.
