Nick Date: 10/18/16 12:40 Re: Fall colors on route of the Zephyr Author: StarlightRider How do you manage to get such superb photos shooting through the windows of Amtrak cars?
Date: 10/18/16 13:13 Re: Fall colors on route of the Zephyr Author: BACKTRACK When my wife & I were on the CZ eastbound to Chicago, I cleaned my outside sleeper window myself on a stop in Reno. I told our excellent attendant (Ralph) that you have to start at the bottom & work your way up on the RR - got some Great Pictures!!

I love that route but I haven been through there in about 4 years. Some health problems have slowed me down. Been through in summer, late spring, and winter but never in the fall.
You're right about taking ten to get one good one. At least with digital, it doesn't cost to take a bunch of extra shots. My biggest problem was controlling reflections. The windows were reasonably clean on my trips and I could not focus as close as your camera could, witness the lint between the windows. great set of pictures. Fall is in the air sorta. Here outside Atlanta it will be 89 tomorrow, maybe 92 outside the city. Jim Barton Date: 10/19/16 01:11 Re: Fall colors on route of the Zephyr Author: mp51w Great series! I feel like I just rode the train with you!
If photography makes you feel like you have really been there, then you have succeeded! I just drove back from Summit County, CO, and even if it's past the aspen color peak, the cottonwoods, ash, and river willows are just as spectacular this year. Javier Ortiz Dallas, TX Date: 10/19/16 12:29 Re: Fall colors on route of the Zephyr Author: chakk The photos also show some of the tamarisk along the Colorado River turning to their salmon pink color of autumn. Although I wish they weren't there, as they suck up so much water from the river. I think the govt has made some attempts to control them by introducing non-native insects that feed on this non-native tamarisk -- so far without much success, I believe.
See http://www.discovermoab.com/tamarisk.htm for more info. Date: 10/20/16 17:54 Re: Fall colors on route of the Zephyr Author: enoree Was on the westbound CZ in September and they did wash them in Denver.
Date: 10/20/16 19:21 Re: Fall colors on route of the Zephyr Author: bridge22-0196 windows washed on #6 this evening in denver (could have put clean ones to better use had they been washed before the rockies)
