When they put the fully reburbished fleet of Heritage Fleet cars on the Lake Shore LImited, it seemd like a great step forward.

Oh, well.

This is also when the BOS-CHI sleeper returns (according to reservation availability)

Also remembering when I was on the initial (ceremonial) CHI-BOS run, back when a back up move onto the Castleton Bridge was needed to get to the B&A. Long time passing ....

I would guess book using the multi city option, coach NY to Albany, BC Albany to CHI.

You can't book 48/49 between just Albany and NYC.

I just did, NYP-ALB, $42.00 coach, November 01.

Rhinecliff and Hudson are not R stops on 49, but both are D stops on 48. You still have to pay separate fares on either side of Albany, not  a through fare. This is like booking a sleeper for part of the way, and switching to coach. It has to be done by a RSO human, not on-line.

I've done that, also.  I wonder if that move couldn't have been done lately, instead of the cross-platform transfer at ALB?
