Passenger Trains > Autumn Color and the CVSRDate: 10/27/16 05:11 Autumn Color and the CVSR Author: SDP40F600 I got out last Sunday in search of autumn color on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad in Northeast Ohio between Cleveland and Akron. Here are a few of those images. The fall foliage season is one of the busiest times for patronage of the CVSR, which serves the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It is not unusual for the trains to run late due to the high number of riders and bikes taking advantage of the Bike Aboard program in which they can bike one way and return by train. Unlike in past years, though, the CVSR did not double up the motive power on the south end. They continued with the standard operating procedure of one locomotive on each end.

In years past, this was a company town for a paper company. The Baltimore & Ohio -- the one-time owner of the tracks used by the CVSRF -- had a train order station here.
Photo 5: Skirting a bend in the Cuyahoga River north of Boston Mill along Riverview Road. Photo 6: South of Peninsula along Riverview Road. The CVSR will revert to Saturday and Sunday only operation at the completion of the trips on Sunday, Oct. 30. Trains will operate twice a day on weekends rather than the current three times a day on Wednesday through Sunday. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/27/16 05:16 by SDP40F600. John Date: 10/28/16 05:32 Re: Autumn Color and the CVSR Author: march_hare Well earned IOTD. Love the sense of texture and depth in that photo, probably can only do that under fall conditions.
