Passenger Trains > extra cars in Miami for 98Date: 11/30/16 17:30 extra cars in Miami for 98 Author: bobgfla does anyone know how many extra cars do thay keep in Miami??? as it looks like 97 won,t get there till 2 or 3 am and if thay can put together another complete train for tomorrow with out useing 97,s equipment.

Date: 12/04/16 00:41 Re: extra cars in Miami for 98 Author: jp1822 Hialeah is right next door, the main epicenter for all maintenance of single level long distance trains. So there's extra Viewliners down their - being worked on at the Hialeah shops as well as Amfleet II's and likely the Heritage Diners right now since their are so few left in operation. Beech Grove would typically do the major overhauls and refurbishments, but I think this is not on the agenda any more as both Hialeah and Beech Grove await the release of the new diners from CAF. Hialeah just got major facility upgrades, so one would think that with those upgrades, the Viewliner sleepers (current ones that are running) should be able to get better utilization than what they get now (eg. only 39 out of 50 are in regular assignment). Course this goes up to 41 when the Cardinal gets a second Viewliner. The NEC needs its overnight sleeper service restored. - from the Tidewater of Virginia all the way to Boston (the Twilight Shoreliner route).
