Passenger Trains > Viewliner 2 Diners

 Any sightings of the one(or two)  Viewliner  diners  that  are  running  about  testing ? At least  we hope they are testing. Thanks

I think we confirmed a couple threads back that there is only one Viewliner II Diner "out" (Annapolis I believe) in Amtrak's hands, but its exact location is unknown.

There is one Viewliner I diner in service, there is one Viewliner II diner delivered, but not yet accepted, it is supposedly in Hialeah, which is logical since it's where the Viewliner fleet is maintained. There is at least one other nearly complete Viewliner II diner that Amtrak had previously tested, that likely needs Amtrak requested modifications.

IF Amtrak can get at least two Viewliner II's accepted, it could (if it wanted to) restore full dining service on the Lake Shore Limited. The Lake Shore only requires three Diners, but Amtrak currently has at least two Heritage Diners in active "reserve" duty. The best way to make sure these Diners work right is to put them in service. What's the worst that happens - everyone gets cafe food? Why it will just be like the Silver Star and Lake Shore meal service at present! 

The first revenue service of Annapolis, the first Viewliner II Diner,  is supposed to take place today 12/5 on 98 out of Miami.

Be interesting what the pecking order will be. Will they eradicate all Heritage diners before the LSL gets any ?

We'll be on the LSL on Feb. 20th.  Hopefully, our train will have a Viewliner II diner.
