NJ Chamber Special Train - February 16 and 17
Author: Lackawanna484

Just a reminder that the annual NJ Chamber of Commerce special train to Washington will run on February 16.  This is usually a sold out event, and often has 18 cars and two motors. A mix of bar cars and coaches from the Amfleet pool. The train returns the next day, on a similar schedule, although many players fly home.

The train leaves Newark NJ in late morning, and arrives in DC mid-afternoon.  Depending on who's in favor, other stops often include Metropark New Brunswick Trenton Philadelphia (!) and Wilmington (!!).  One year, it stopped in Elizabeth at the request of an influential political player, but that's unusual.  This is a long train, and in the past it has made double stops in Trenton and New Brunswick.  One year, the incoming Governor was feuding with the teachers' union and the public employee unions. He forbid any member of his administration from participating, and train attendance dropped to nine cars worth, as many lobbyists also stayed away. That left a few smokers and schmoozers on the platform in Trenton since the train made just a single stop.

The train carries the cream of NJ's political elites, union leaders, business leaders, and other influentials not curently in prison.

Here's the schedule for those planning ahead.   NJ Chamber

Now that the Governor is a lame duck, left out in the cold from the Trump administration, and has an official state-polled approval rating of 18%, he can no longer scare anyone away.
