#7 running as full section to Seattle. No #27 for 1/18/17
Author: SCspotter

Just got word from an inside source that due to the major freezing rain and ice storm in Portland, Amtrak has decided to run #7 as a full section to Seattle. There will be no #27 in Spokane and the full trainset will run to Seattle. It will run back out as #8 in the same configuration later in the day on 1/18/17. Might be an interesting sight to see. Train is currently about an hour and a half down into Spokane according to Dixieland.

Nice opportunity for Sightseer over the Cascades. Do they bus the 27/28 patrons ?

When it happenned last year to me, they brought everyone to Seattle, then sent them to Portland on a Cascades train.  If it was bad enough to cause the #27 section to 'detour', then I wouldn't want to be on a bus in the Gorge.

Good idea/ thinking on Amtrak's part.  I noted that it was yesterdays delayed 28 t hat caused today's 8 into St Paul to be so late.  I believe 8 from Seattle had been on t ime at SPK and had to wait for 28.

Second try at this, first didn't post:  I believe it was yesterday's 28 that caused today's 8 into St Paul to be so late.   Seem to recall 8 from Seattle into SPK on time or early but they had to wait for 28.  Good job t today, Amtrak.

Both I-84 and SR14 are closed this morning due to ice and fallen trees.

Sounds like #8 will be running as a full consist today as well out of Seattle. Still no service between Spokane and Portland for 27/28.

That would be cool to see, hopefully someone will have photos. So since I 84 is closed did the PDX passengers ride it to SEA then take the Talgo to PDX ??
