Passenger Trains > Amtrak 11(17) vehicle strikeDate: 01/18/17 06:28 Amtrak 11(17) vehicle strike Author: brbigelow On board. Hit an abandoned van on the tracks at Oasis Road just north of Redding about 4 hours ago. Now sitting at the Redding depot after proceeding there at restricted speed. Number 14 is trapped south of us. Don't know if any damage to the lead unit.

UP SD70M 4119 added as lead unit. Crew now dead on the law. Exchanging partial crew with 14 at Girvan siding, so 14 is running 7 hours late and 11 is 7.5 hours late.

Strange things seem to always be happening in the Silverthorn and Central Valley areas.
