Passenger Trains > Veterans 42 & Phase I 156 bringing #5(17) off DonnerDate: 01/19/17 14:34 Veterans 42 & Phase I 156 bringing #5(17) off Donner Author: BoilingMan I think this is somewhere east of Gold Run, CA.
SR Notes: 5 left Reno pretty much OT. Meanwhile, an Eastbound freight had come to a stop in front of my house at MP 156, blocking Track 1 (B/O power? Dead crew?). A second Eastbound was run around the first on Track 2 ultimately forcing an awkward meet with #5 at about Shed 10, I suppose. This delayed #5 apx an hour. I made this shot and drove home (about 1.75mi away) just as the stalled EB (UP 7727 on the point) was pulling away. The paved road in my photos is the old Lincoln Highway. Edited 1 time(s). Living right in the middle of skier's paradise, and next to the tracks.
Great pictures! Date: 01/19/17 17:28 Re: Veterans 42 & Phase I 156 bringing #5(17) off Donner Author: wmshawk And here they are passing through Rocklin a couple of hours down.
Half of the delay time was spent in Truckee waiting on the UP Flanger. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/19/17 17:29 by wmshawk. You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos. Join Today! Yeah, it's an interesting place to live. I do fall down the "It's All Crap Now" hole occasionally (spoiled on 80's SP Donner- I've been up here about 35yrs now) but a bit of snow falls, and all is right again! SR If this pair comes out on #6 tomorrow I'll see if I can get them up The Hill further.
