Before listening to the "expert" keep in mind that CUS is on at least the THIRD computerized control machine (TrainTracker, Digicon, Airinc). Harrison St and Lake St towers were in service from the mid 1920's until the first computerized control machine was cutover. The entire terminal was never shut down when the towers were in service. Western Ave. tower of similar vintage is still in service. That being said, I think computerized equipment can be succesful if you use a proven supplier and listen to them when they tell you what you need. Note the "experts" solution is to spend a billion or two dollars. Just look at what a billion dollars got us on the St. Louis high speed train. The whole line has been 110mph for years and look at the brand new engines and cars. Oh, I forgot that didn't really happen did it. You will get the same result dumping a billion dollars in the Chicago river that you will get giving it to Amtrak. On the 6pm CBS local news an "expert" was quoted as saying that the CUS equipment is rotary phone era. That shows a complete lack of expertise. The picture of the president at the end of the story tells us who they will blame for the next outage. After another agency spent millions on it trying to get it to work, that thing was dumped.

Harold "Humpty Dumpty" and Tom "The Midnight Cowboy" both continue to influence to operation years after leaving us with ARRINC. They were so positive about the benefits... Top notch train decay! More passengers robbed of their dignity and these two didn't have to lift a finger.
