Caltrans Charger Testing
Author: KM-ML4000

From a reliable source, Amtrak/Caltrans will conduct Charger over the road testing on the San Joaquin and Capitol corridors. Before you get all excited, the trains will mostly operate at night. First train is supposed to leave Oakland for Bakersfileld on Saturday evening, after 5 pm. Northbound trip will leave Bakersfield on Sunday, sometime after the crew is rested (10 am?). All other runns will be at night, and dates are still to be firmed up.

the speed tests to qualify the units for125mph were already done on the NEC last year ... to qualify for 125mph they must test run 10mph over the desired speed which was completr and successful ...

The FRA still requires that 238.111(a) on all corridors, prior to revenue service.
