Brightline-FEC New Fort Lauderdale Station
Author: RWS4449

Here are two photos taken yesterday of the new Fort Lauderdale Brightline station on the FEC.

The station is located just north of Broward Blvd and adjacent to the local public bus terminal.

Thanks! Cool pics. West Palm beach isn't that far behind either.

It looks like the cement ramp on both sides of the platform (north end and south end...WPB has them too) will be exit gates. Real convenient since the one in WPB will go right to Clematis Street (busy night life area in downtown) and will be right across the street from the courthouse.

Now I wonder what they will do for safety to prevent people from walking out of the platform and onto the tracks when trains are passing by.

Two thoughts -- that bump going into the crossing should be fun at speed (yes, I know they will tamp up to the level).

And flying out of MCO (Orlando) on Tuesday (for those of us in Key West, trains are no longer an option) I noticed the large parking/station complex being built south of the current terminals air terminals and the construction on people movers to the airport plus running and station tracks. Coming right along!

The platform for the Brightline station in WPB border both Clematis Street and Fern Street. These streets will remain open, and it appears that the platform ramp exits onto the streets and in between the station tracks.
