AMTK 3 Cooling Its heels

Looks like NMRX has No.3 put away at Bernalillo this evening to run their dinkies.
How long wil No.3 sit? Innquiring minds wonder.

No.3 is now underway and headed for ABQ. Delay at Bernaliilo looks like about 1 hour.

Isn't Amtrak a tenant here?

That ain't new, like I said, lousy dispatching by Railrunner!

Yes, Amtrak is a tenant here, as it is all over the country. Is that a good reason for such a delay ?

When Amtrak is put in the hole to let an ALL STOPS COMMUTER go around it, that is TERRIBLE dispatching. Tenant or not, the host is 1000% responsible for the debacle. And to make matters worse, 3 wasn't even allowed to follow said commuter train. It was made to wait for the train that passed to arrive in Albuquerque and another to come out of Albuquerque. Don't "tenant" me. There's no excuse for dispatching this bad. It's an almost daily occurrence during weekday afternoons.

Yet they get away with it, day after day.  Must be very little pressure for them to give Amtrak any priority.

Santa Fe elected officials, staffers, lobbyists, bureaucrats and camp followers don't tolerate getting home late.

How would letting 3 continue to Albuquerque make those people late? There are at least 6 stops on the section of NMRX in question. Amtrak stops at none. There is no possible way for a 79 mph Amtrak to delay a following commuter train. There is no excuse.

You never know what's going to happen so you better get it while you can.

Is the line now good for 79 mpH ?
from other posters I thought it had some slow orders  and sidings out of service !

The portion in question is a different segment than you are referring to. All shared trackage with these commuter trains is "track speed".

The commuter trains have a higher priority because of the time-sensitive nature of the service.  The Amtrak comes through at a different time every day, and just needs to wait.

Can you read? A 79 mph nonstop Amtrak train was running nonstop ahead of an all stops commuter train. Amtrak stopped to let the all stops commuter train go around it.

Why do I always fall for your flamer bait? Reindeerturd just needs to go away.

Whether it is New Mexico or CN, they won't change their behavior until it costs them serious money.

You're right. There's no excuse for dispatching this bad. Except when Amtrak does it, I guess.

Amtrak pulls exactly the same nonsense against NJ Transit 365 days a year.  Anybody who has ridden the North Jersey  Coast or the Trenton NEC trains or the Atlantic City line can give you an earful.

I used to ride train 3722 out of Jersey Avenue in New Brunswick regularly.  If Acela 2154 was on time, we would cross over behind it to the local tracks.  If 2154 was late, but expected within 20 minutes, we would be held. Every single damn time.  CETC-8 had his orders from on high.  There was a Trenton Train which crossed over to track 2 and ran behind him. It sat on track 4 at Metropark until 2154 came through, fouling up more trains behind him.  They have a four track line, and run it like a single track railroad.

Amtrak has no qualms about screwing over tenants on its lines whenever it has the chance.  I spent an hour at SHORE one time waiting for Amtrak to allow the ACES Gamblers train to cross over.
