Passenger Trains > Caltrain equipment queryDate: 03/24/17 13:24 Caltrain equipment query Author: Exespee How many turns does a fresh set of equipment usually make coming out of CEMOF before returning for fuel/cleaning/etc?

Date: 03/24/17 13:39 Re: Caltrain equipment query Author: kg6nlw Well it's been a few years, but if I remember right, they do a cleaning at every 3rd turn if they have 10 minutes or more regardless of station, San Francisco or San Jose. There is enough fuel in the engines to do a whole days work and then some before fueling, but they get topped off at the end of the day just in case...Granted things may have changed since I was last there...
A prime example is the first train of the day, this *SHOULD BE* it's current "turn" status... 101>206>323>332>139>146>155>360>279>190>199 Regards, -Frank C. Date: 03/24/17 23:58 Re: Caltrain equipment query Author: CDTX The only turn that is still correct above is 190-199 and 206-323. 206 starts fresh out of SF, not sure what happens after 323. Not sure what 375 equipment works earlier in the day but a San Jose crew
brings (375)190 into cemof for fuel and goes back out for 199 (SF crew that went to gilroy on 274 and cabbed to SJ). I don't have all of the turns memorized but some off the top of my head are as follows. Most or all of this will change April 10 with the new schedule. Cleaning is done everywhere if the turn is long enough, Gilroy trains stay overnight. Daily inspections are performed in all three terminals but obviously CMF is the only place where the mechanical pit inspection can be performed. CMF305-218-237-150-159-274 Gilroy Becomes GIL 227-156 GIL the next day and then the next day GIL 221-138 CMF and ??? after that. CMF 313-324-139-254-269-386 CMF CMF 103-314-135-272-191-194 CMF This one sometimes goes to CMF for fuel real quick between 314 and 135 CMF 225-142-155-268 Gilroy SF 216 goes to CMF for fuel goes back to Diridon ties down becomes 381 (crew turns for 194) not sure what that equipment turns for after 381 SF 104-329-370-289-198 CMF Subject to change if other equipment is badorder usually becomes 225 the next day. Time marches on... EO You're lucky that you missed the whole "speed signals" thing. Date: 03/28/17 12:00 Re: Caltrain equipment query Author: Exespee It used to be simple but it worked well. The only thing that really hasn't changed are the running times.
