Thanks - glad to see that the Sleepers were not involved ... actually the B&A section did just fine!

 

I wonder how long it took to get all the passengers (197 I think) into the station?  10 hours or something awful like that??

I was in a similar derailment on the Builder but leaving the station. Diner and second sleeper on the ground. We were all back in the station within a couple of hours. The train departed for a second time sans second sleeper (they found a replacement diner in the yard) about 5 hours late. Excellent work by Amtrak including a voucher for diner in the station before departure.

From another report, the passengers were transferred into the front cars (those that kept contact with the rails) and arrived into CUS about 11:45am.  

and did anyone notice that 48 left on time ( or 2 minutes late )?

Amtrak said a first group of passengers got into the station at noon, and the rest -- from the rear of the train -- were in by 1:15 p.m.

Only 197 passengers?  Naysayers... I thought nobody rides Amtrak!

197 passengers for 10 cars isn't actually packed ... not counting baggage and diner ...
