International Railroad Discussion > South African Class 25 No. 3511 - CondensingDate: 02/25/14 17:34 South African Class 25 No. 3511 - Condensing Author: CP8888 SAR 3511 is/was a 4-8-4 condensing engine constructed 1953 or 1954 by
North British Locomotive Company. Does this engine still exist?? If yes, is it operational. Thanks in advance for any and all information. Date: 02/26/14 04:07 Re: South African Class 25 No. 3511 - Condensing Author: PERichardson Definitely exists at one of the railroad heritage sites in South Africa. I haven't heard of it operating in years though. Should be complete though if the copper bandits haven't gotten to it.

But the anti-steam policy at Transnet will mean it won't have anyplace to run. White man's toy, ya know. Ask any SA steam enthusiast and they will confirm that's a primary reason steam is no longer considered a heritage asset as it was up until a few years ago.

A well deserved attitude From 1948 to 1993 there were only 5 attributes for SAS/SAR employment Skin colour Afrikaans as home and school language Ultra short back and sides haircut Letter from Predikant attesting to your callused knees Nat Party membership card, for higher paying positions Broederbond membership desirable At the lower levels SAS/SAR was a closed shop used as a dumping ground for otherwise unemployable poor whites In the Chinese context the National Party's "ïron ricebowl" In the late '90's the ANC government reversed the requirement and now use Transnet to warehouse their own supporters One reason for the 200k to 400k poor whites now living in squatter camps on the fringes of the larger South African cities And before the politically correct knot their little panties, exercise your mouse hand and do a bit of research. You may then understand the Nat Party regime, and how it was stacked against fellow whites (rooinek), let alone the darker skinned majority Date: 03/03/14 04:01 Re: South African Class 25 No. 3511 - Condensing Author: PERichardson jmt Wrote:

"What goes around, comes around."
