Just south of Bom Jardim de Minas – MG Brazil on the MRS Logistica railroad is tunnel 46. Tunnel 46 is 8.6 Kilometers long. Trust me it’s long, three signals inside the tunnel. Well just south of that long tunnel is siding location known P2-08. You exit tunnel 45 (613 m) about km post 87.2 and find the signal and switch for P2-08(2) (or north siding switch), then tunnel 44 (387 m), then tunnel 43 (237 m), then tunnel 42 (417 m), then bridge 41 (219 m), then tunnel 41 (185 m), then P2-08(1) (south siding switch), then bridge 40, and finally tunnel 40. All that in about 3 km

It’s just a I-phone video and this windshield is not the cleanest, and this is my first attempt at a video.

That's splendid! The signals looks somewhat familiar for those from this side of the Atlantic. I've railfanned the EFVM in Minas Gerais back in 2007 and it was difficult at times to get close to the railway, how accessible is MRS Logistica around Bom Jardim de Minas?

fwiw, 8.6 km ≈ 5.34 miles
It appears that tunnel 40 is single track, but has space for double.
Any idea why that might be the case?

It was hard to find the south end of the tunnel and follow the track from there because it is underground so much.

The track on the right is a siding track. The train is going down the main track. They are not removing the track. Just maintenance. This track (The Steel Line) is pretty much a one way railroad with ore and steel loads going south to the ports and empties returning north on the Central line. So I assume the siding rarely gets used.

Many of the bridges and tunnels on the Steel Line appear to be build to support double track. The un-used part of the tunnel is often used as a access road.
