Temporary Sri Lankan rail workers protest conditions

About 3,000 Sri Lankan Railway workers, responsible for a number of trades and operations, have been employed as non-permanent employees for years with low wages and no offer for stable employment. They held a protest Tuesday that brought an attack by the police which affected both the rail workers and commuters. Service on the "coastal line" was temporarily delayed.
