International Railroad Discussion > More from BrazilDate: 05/14/14 14:46 More from Brazil Author: kjangel More pictures from Brazil taken on April 30th. Hope you enjoy.
Picture 1 - Two southbound ore loads (MRS 3432 & 3452) sit in Bom Jardim de Minas yard (P2-06 ~km 100 on the Steel Line) waiting to head south to the ports near Rio. Picture 2 – Something a bit different, MRS 3857 (Ex NW 8061 C36-7) and MRS 3717 (C30-7) are mid train DPU’s on a merchandise train (cement & steel cars mostly) departing Bom Jardim yard. When this train reaches Volta Redonda the train will be split. The cars in front of the DPU’s will head to Rio de Janeiro and the cars behind the DPU’s will head to San Paulo Picture 3 – MRS 7307 is the rear DPU on a loaded ore train departing Bom Jardim yard. The majority of the ore cars appeared to be new or newer based on the bright yellow paint on the cars. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/14/14 14:50 by kjangel. Date: 05/14/14 14:47 Re: More from Brazil Author: kjangel Picture 4 – MRS 5244 (SD40-2) is in the siding at P2-10 on a work train with ballast.
Picture 5 – MRS 5133 (SD38) enters the siding at P2-13 with another cut of ballast. Picture 6 – MRS 3820 (Ex NW 8505 C36-7) expels a blast of black smoke as this short steel train heads toward San Paulo. As my train passes by I snap a picture of a narrow gauge crane and tender cars. The crane was marked 68 tons and Orton.
Picture 8 – FCA 4143 (EMD G8 ???) works the narrow gauge yard. Picture 9 – MRS units 3659 (C26-7 Never heard of this model, I got this of the internet), 3717 (C30-7) and 3864 (ex ATSF 8079 C36M) sit in a yard as my ore train passes. That is the business of the railway, some info on the type and amount of traffic they are hauling, other-wise those locos would not be there.
