my colleague who traveled with me across Japan in the fall of 2013 has just done another trip

Thanks for posting these, and your 2013 report.

The "Tetsudo Hobby Train" was one of the notable railfan topics during my visit to Japan in March and April. Hope you (or someone from the trip) have a story for us.
