More Myanmar, Thazi - Ka Law - Inle Lake

The line from Thazi climbs from less than a thousand feet to over 4,000 via a twisting mountain railway that includes a group of switchbacks. The scenery is amazing and the little Chinese built diesel really works hard.

A typical small station on the line

The interior of this trains upper class coach

The Ka Law station. Along with Pyin Oo Lwin (Maymyo to the British) these were the two major "Hill Stations" where the British colonial administrators retreated during the hot season.

Great pix from a location I'd never heard of.

In that environment, how do they do weed control?

No weed control or brush control. At some points the tree limbs slap inside the car as the train passes. The line between Thazi and Ka Law and to Gokteik was amazing, sort of like Moses parting the red sea.
