International Railroad Discussion > A yellow train on Keikyu lineDate: 07/12/14 05:07 A yellow train on Keikyu line Author: Hiroshi "Lucky me today 'cause I saw a yellow train!" Of course what they saw was a pair of yellow MoW motorcars carrying parts to from Kanazawa Bunko where Keikyu has a service facility.
Keikyu took this very seriously. Now Keikyu has repainted one of its class 1000 EMUs into a solid yellow. This yellow consist has been in revenue service for about two month now. Finally I was very “lucky” enough to catch and ride it! Lucky for you to catch and ride the Keikyu Yellow Happy Train! For those who are not familiar, Keikyu Railway's trains are usually painted red, with the exception of the Keikyu Blue Sky Train (in blue) that's been in service to celebrate the opening of Haneda Airport's Terminal 2 about 9 years ago. The color yellow was adopted from their self-propelled maintenance car, which has a cult following among Keikyu railfans. A sighting of the yellow maintenance car is supposed to bring good luck, so Keikyu Railway decided to respond to railfan enthusiasm by painting one of their 1000 class train set yellow.
