La Meuse Builders Plate
Author: africansteam

This is a cross post from the European Board.

Hi Folks,

I have had in my collection for many years a Société de La Meuse, Liege builders Plate, construction number 3200 of 1926. I would like to identify the wheel arrangement and the the purchaser of this locomotive.

To date my web searches have failed to turn up any information. The Ateliers de construction de La Meuse site on Wikipedia does not list this specific builders number. I believe the plate was repatriated from Central or South America.

If anyone knows the details of this locomotive or can direct me to additional sources to search I would by very grateful.

Thanks,
Jack

Your question was sent to several friends in Europe. Today, Helmut Dahlhaus (Germany) offered the following reply:

Hello,

My friend Joachim Leitsch has these details:

LMe 3200 aus (from) 1926
1435mm
Dt
neu Ch. Baumann, Paris

0-8-0 standard gauge tank, new to Ch. Baumann, Paris

Baumann probably is a dealer so it doesn't say much about the final destination.

Best wishes, Helmut

Milepost130, thanks for all your efforts, and please thank Helmut and Joachin for me. You have cleared up a long standing Mystery! I will now try to track down Agent Ch. Baumann's customer. If I succeed I will post the results.

Here is a photo of the plate. Feel free to pass it on.

Cheers,
Jack
