Is there any mandatory protocol for whistle signals on Australian Railroads?

Thanks,

Very nice video. I especially liked the 'flying' intermodal train at Bolivar -- a fast freight with a cool mix of intermodal and other stuff.

Enjoyed the video very much! Interesting stuff, from short passenger trains, passenger car mixed with freights, doublestacks, and classic-looking cab units leading trains. Thanks for posting this and the photo report.

Many Thanks! Love the videos, esp the whole train ones. John in Wilmington DE USA where we do not even have double-stacks!

Thanks for the comments everyone. I like to try and include the full train where possible for the TO videos.

We don't have any set whistle codes in Australia.

As for what looks like the small passenger train, it was a track recording/ inspection train running on the Pinnaroo branch line which is standard gauge. Wudinna is on G&W's isolated narrow gauge, Eyre Peninsula division.

Cheers,
Justin

Gee I wonder if they have lots of grade crossing accidents when they don't blow long and hard for the crossings?

Nice sounding Nathan P5s and Leslie S5 horns. Too bad they are not used on a regular basis by regulation.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks Jim.

It is really up to the driver to how much they use the horn.

Cheers,
Justin
