Tie plates and rail braces
Author: Railpax71

These are on the Jomo electric railway in Kiryu, Gunma, Japan which runs along the foothills of Akagiyama to Maebashi. The equipment is light electric DMUs so no tie plates and the rail braces are wooden. There is a prototype for everything.

Box end joints are very common in Japan on jointed rail. US has been staggers since 1980.

The US staggered their rail joints before 1900, not 1980.
